FAQ

What qualifications do you have?

Island Paddle Bliss is permitted with the State of Hawai’i through the Department of Land and Natural Resources to conduct commercial activity and SUP Yoga instruction in state oceans. Permit No. 20-75606. Topaz Aleah Davis is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (200hr E-RYT) with Continuing Education Certifications in both SUP Yoga (25hr SUP Yoga) Children’s and Family Yoga (28hr CRYT), and a 14hr Meditation Guide through the Yoga Alliance. Additionally, all classes and instruction are fully insured. What do I wear to a SUP Yoga class?

Waterproof clothing or anything you don’t mind getting wet. Bathing suits, trunks, bikinis, yoga shorts, leggings, sports bras, etc are all good options for SUP Yoga! If you are prone to sun allergies or irritation, I recommend bringing along a hat, rash guard, or sunglasses.

What do I bring?

Water, a towel, and good energy! :)

what do I do with my belongings?

You can set up your beach towel and shoes on the sand near where we launch from, which is totally safe as we are only a few feet from shore. I will provide water proof phone cases for your cell phones.

What is a SUP Yoga class like?

Classes on the ocean are ALL about letting go of the outcome and having fun-including sometimes falling in! My standard daytime classes are vinyasa based, upbeat, and open to all experience levels. Nighttime classes have more of a restorative vibe and incorporate a deeper meditation experience.

What if I’ve never paddle boarded before?

No worries! I’ll explain everything at the start of class. Each class will include a short intro to paddling and SUP.

What if I’ve never done yoga before?

Again, no worries! There’s modifications for EVERY pose on the board. Whether advanced or beginner, we’ve got you covered! This experience is for everyone.

What if I’ve never done SUP Yoga before?

Trust me, NO WORRIES! Just come ready to have fun and try something new. You might end up loving it or you might end up hating it, but at least TRY it!

Is there anyone that shouldn’t or can’t do SUP Yoga?

At this time, I do not currently teach classes to pregnant women.

Can I join my child’s kids class?

You are more than welcome to join from the shore or take photos in the water! But at this time, all kids classes are for kids only! The reason for this is to keep all kids comfortable and in the same frame of mind, as well as for equipment safety and upkeep. If you’d like to book a class with your child, please check out my SUP Yoga + Paddle for Couples/Duos or my Family Yoga + Paddle Private Experiences. These are more all-age friendly.

How do I book a class?

All classes must be pre-booked online through my website. Visit my class schedule page here to book your board.

How large are the classes?

Our class maximum is currently up to 6 students for adults and 8 students for children.

How long are the classes?

Classes are anywhere from 60-90 minutes long.

What if I have to leave in the middle of the class or get sick?

No need to explain or disrupt the class. You can either remain in savasana, or paddle back to shore. Place board and paddle at our original meeting location and take care of whatever you need. If you'd like to return to the class, just paddle back out.

What happens if it rains or the tide is too high?

Classes run drizzle or shine. Forecast will be cleared the day of each class. In the event that class needs to be cancelled due to high tide or extreme rain, you will be automatically refunded or have the option to be credited and added to the next scheduled class. You will be notified within two hours of the start of the class if this should occur.
